The Church of Holy Rosary is built like most traditional church buildings; that is in the shape of a cross with spires and steeples. The original structure was constructed in 1903 making this church over 100 years old!

In 1903, Father Francis Terrien, a French missionary who was then in charge of the Catholic Chinese community in Kuala Lumpur spotted a land next to HIJ Convent (now the Telekom building at Brickfields Road) for sale. Soon after, the land was paid with the help of the parish of St John and the Chinese Catholic Community. The plan was drawn and they went to work non-stop for 18 months. In November, 1904 the church was completed.

The church building then was different from the present building. It is said that the roof of the Church was flat and the wings were not added until 1950. Renovations to the original structure took place in 1950, resulting in the structure one sees today. The architecture of the church depicts many typical Gothic features of churches of Europe with the use of high windows with stained glass, steeples and its emphasis on verticality.
An older parishioner remembers that on the flat roof, they used to put a 5 star paper and a bamboo contraption during Christmas with an oil lamp as there was no electricity then. The parsonage was an attap building and the belfry where the bell was placed was on the ground on the left side the church.

Lenn & Charles' Wedding Service will be held at 9.00am on 13 June 2009 at the Church of Holy Rosary, Brickfields.
